Job description

Curriculum Development: Designing and developing curriculum plans, lesson plans, and instructional materials that align with educational standards and learning objectives in biology. Selecting textbooks, laboratory experiments, demonstrations, multimedia resources, and field trips to support students' understanding of biological concepts. Classroom Instruction: Conducting engaging lectures, discussions, and demonstrations to teach fundamental principles of biology, including cellular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and physiology. Utilizing various teaching strategies, such as inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, simulations, and multimedia presentations, to enhance student comprehension and application of biological concepts. Laboratory Supervision: Supervising laboratory sessions where students conduct experiments to apply theoretical concepts, conduct investigations, collect data, and analyze results. Ensuring adherence to safety protocols, proper use of laboratory equipment, and ethical practices in biological research and experimentation. Student Assessment and Evaluation: Designing and administering assessments, including quizzes, tests, exams, projects, and lab reports, to evaluate students' understanding and mastery of biological content. Providing constructive feedback on assignments and assessments to guide students' academic progress and promote continuous learning. Facilitation of Learning: Encouraging active participation, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry through classroom discussions, group activities, problem-solving exercises, and debates related to biological concepts and applications. Fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes curiosity, exploration, and appreciation for the complexity and diversity of life on Earth. Mentorship and Academic Advising: Serving as a mentor and academic advisor to students, offering guidance on academic goals, career paths in biology, research opportunities, and college preparation. Providing individualized support and assistance to students who require additional help in understanding biological concepts or mastering academic skills. Integration of Technology: Incorporating educational technology tools, such as digital simulations, virtual labs, multimedia resources, online databases, and interactive learning platforms, to enhance students' engagement and understanding of biology. Utilizing learning management systems (LMS) to organize course materials, assignments, grades, and communication with students and parents. Professional Development: Engaging in continuous professional development activities, including attending workshops, conferences, seminars, and training sessions, to stay informed about advancements in biology education, teaching methodologies, and curriculum innovations. Collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional learning communities, and contributing to curriculum development initiatives within the school or district. Promotion of Scientific Literacy and Ethical Practices: Emphasizing the importance of scientific literacy, evidence-based reasoning, ethical considerations, and sustainability in biological studies and environmental stewardship. Instilling a sense of responsibility, respect for life, and awareness of ethical issues in biological research, experimentation, and decision-making. Collaboration and Community Engagement: Collaborating with other science faculty, administrators, and community stakeholders to enhance science education initiatives, interdisciplinary projects, and extracurricular activities related to biology.
