Job description

Patient Billing: Generating and processing patient invoices or bills for healthcare services rendered. This includes compiling charges for medical treatments, procedures, consultations, and other services. Insurance Verification: Verifying patients' insurance coverage and eligibility for services. This involves confirming insurance details, coverage limits, copayments, deductibles, and obtaining pre-authorizations if required. Claims Submission: Preparing and submitting insurance claims electronically or manually to insurance companies or third-party payers. Ensuring claims are accurate, complete, and comply with insurance guidelines and regulations. Follow-up on Claims: Monitoring the status of submitted claims and following up with insurance companies or payers to resolve any billing discrepancies, denials, or delayed payments. Resubmitting claims as necessary. Patient Accounts Management: Managing patient accounts receivable, including posting payments, processing refunds or adjustments, and reconciling accounts. Addressing patient inquiries or concerns related to billing statements. Financial Counseling: Providing financial counseling and assistance to patients regarding billing questions, payment options, and financial assistance programs available. Coding and Compliance: Ensuring proper coding of medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes. Adhering to coding guidelines and compliance regulations. Billing System Management: Operating and maintaining billing software systems to input and retrieve patient billing information accurately. Updating patient records, insurance information, and billing codes as needed. Reporting and Analysis: Generating financial reports and summaries related to billing activities, accounts receivable, collections, and revenue cycle performance. Analyzing data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Team Collaboration: Collaborating with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and insurance representatives to resolve billing-related issues, streamline processes, and improve overall revenue cycle efficiency.
