Supervises independently and in harmony with the automotive shop foreman and communicates with the superiors and subordinates. Schedules and implements the smooth flow of general shop repairs and preventive maintenance workload for the physical plant and for other university departments. Manages staff and operations of a technical area to include scheduling time, managing performance, supply and logistics, identifying training needs, and providing recommendations for personnel actions. The individual is responsible for work assignment to technicians on shop floor depending upon their skills and supervising service, repair and maintenance operations of the vehicle as per OEM guidelines within the expected time and cost to ensure minimum repeat complaints. Supervises the work of employees involved in performing routine to major automotive mechanical or body repair work. Advises employees as to the selection of appropriate repair or maintenance procedures and assists on difficult assignments; inspects work in progress and upon completion.
