Team Supervision: Supervise and manage a team of automotive technicians, mechanics, and service advisors. Assign work tasks, set performance expectations, and provide guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow and productivity. Technical Support: Provide technical guidance, assistance, and expertise to technicians when diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle issues. Offer solutions and recommendations for troubleshooting and resolving challenging technical problems. Quality Control: Oversee the quality of work performed by technicians to ensure adherence to manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed repairs to verify accuracy and reliability. Training and Development: Coordinate training programs and professional development opportunities for technicians to enhance their skills, knowledge, and proficiency in automotive repair techniques, diagnostic tools, and new technologies. Diagnostic Assistance: Assist technicians in diagnosing vehicle problems by interpreting diagnostic codes, analyzing test results, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and computerized systems. Provide guidance on appropriate repair procedures and parts replacement. Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to understand their vehicle concerns, explain repair recommendations, and address any questions or concerns they may have. Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction by maintaining open communication and resolving issues promptly. Parts Management: Coordinate with parts department staff to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and components for vehicle repairs. Verify parts orders, check stock levels, and expedite deliveries to minimize repair downtime and maximize efficiency. Workflow Management: Manage the workflow and scheduling of repair jobs to optimize technician productivity and meet customer service goals. Prioritize work assignments, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of repairs. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and workplace policies within the automotive service department. Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to best practices to prevent accidents and injuries. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and oversee the maintenance of automotive diagnostic equipment, tools, and machinery used in the repair process. Ensure that equipment is calibrated, serviced, and in good working condition to support accurate diagnosis and repair. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. Generate reports on service department performance, including labor hours, job completion rates, and customer satisfaction metrics. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost-saving initiatives within the service department. Implement changes, enhancements, and best practices to optimize service operations and customer experience.
