Job description

Diagnosis: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify electrical issues, malfunctions, and failures in vehicle electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, sensors, switches, relays, and control modules. Troubleshooting: Analyze electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex electrical problems and determine the root cause of issues affecting vehicle performance or functionality. Repair and Replacement: Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments on faulty electrical components, such as alternators, starters, batteries, ignition systems, lighting systems, power windows, power locks, and entertainment systems. Wiring and Harness Work: Install, repair, or replace electrical wiring, connectors, and harnesses in vehicles. Ensure proper routing, insulation, and termination of wires to prevent short circuits, electrical fires, or performance issues. Component Installation: Install aftermarket electrical components, accessories, and upgrades in vehicles, such as audio systems, navigation systems, security systems, auxiliary lighting, tow hitches, trailer wiring, and electronic gadgets. Electrical Modifications: Modify vehicle electrical systems to accommodate custom features, modifications, or upgrades requested by customers. This may involve rewiring, rerouting, or upgrading electrical circuits to support additional equipment or accessories. Testing and Calibration: Conduct electrical tests, voltage checks, and performance measurements to verify proper operation and functionality of repaired or newly installed electrical components. Calibrate sensors, switches, and control modules as needed to ensure optimal performance. Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on vehicle electrical systems, such as cleaning battery terminals, inspecting wiring connections, testing electrical relays, and checking charging system voltage output. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations when working with electrical systems, including proper handling of electrical tools, equipment, and hazardous materials. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, installations, parts used, and maintenance activities for each vehicle. Complete service reports, work orders, and documentation required for tracking, billing, and warranty purposes. Customer Interaction: Interact with customers professionally, courteously, and respectfully to understand their electrical issues, provide repair recommendations, and offer estimates for services. Keep customers informed of repair progress, updates, and any additional work required. Continuing Education: Stay updated on emerging technologies, diagnostic techniques, and electrical system advancements in the automotive industry through training programs, workshops, and professional certifications.
