Job description

Electrical System Diagnosis: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot electrical issues in vehicles. This may include problems with the battery, alternator, starter motor, wiring, fuses, relays, lights, sensors, and electronic control modules. Wiring and Circuit Repairs: Repair or replace damaged or faulty wiring, connectors, and electrical components. Ensure proper insulation, routing, and termination of wires to prevent electrical shorts, open circuits, and other issues. Battery Maintenance: Test and inspect vehicle batteries to assess their condition, voltage, and capacity. Clean battery terminals, check electrolyte levels, and perform battery charging, jump-starting, or replacement as needed. Charging System Repair: Inspect, test, and repair components of the vehicle's charging system, including the alternator, voltage regulator, and associated wiring. Ensure proper charging voltage and current output to maintain battery health and electrical system functionality. Starting System Repair: Diagnose and repair issues with the vehicle's starting system, including the starter motor, ignition switch, ignition coil, and related components. Ensure proper engagement and operation of the starter motor to start the engine reliably. Lighting System Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and replace exterior and interior lights, including headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, and dashboard lights. Ensure proper alignment, brightness, and functionality of all lighting components for safe driving and compliance with regulations. Accessory Installation: Install aftermarket electrical accessories and upgrades, such as audio systems, security systems, GPS navigation, backup cameras, and interior/exterior lighting enhancements. Ensure proper wiring, integration, and functionality of accessories to meet customer preferences and requirements. Electronic Systems Diagnostics: Use diagnostic scanners and software to diagnose issues with the vehicle's onboard electronic systems, including engine control modules (ECM), transmission control modules (TCM), anti-lock brake systems (ABS), airbag systems, and more. Interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and perform necessary repairs or adjustments. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes, and manufacturer specifications when performing electrical repairs and installations. Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials, such as lead-acid batteries and refrigerants. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, parts replaced, diagnostic findings, and customer interactions. Complete work orders, service reports, and documentation to track service history and facilitate warranty claims or customer inquiries.
