Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Full Time Date: 08 June 2024

Job description

Design and Planning: Automobile body builders work closely with clients, engineers, and designers to conceptualize and plan vehicle body modifications. This involves understanding the client's requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and creating design concepts that meet regulatory standards and safety requirements. Fabrication and Construction: Body builders use various fabrication techniques and materials to construct or modify vehicle bodies. This may include metalworking, welding, cutting, bending, and shaping metal sheets, tubes, and panels to create custom body parts, chassis, frames, and structural components. Customization and Modification: Automobile body builders customize vehicles to suit specific purposes or preferences, such as commercial use, off-road capabilities, racing performance, or aesthetic enhancements. This may involve extending or shortening wheelbases, adding cargo compartments, installing specialized equipment, or modifying body shapes and contours. Frame and Chassis Construction: Body builders construct or modify vehicle frames and chassis to accommodate custom body designs or accommodate specialized functions. This may involve strengthening frames, reinforcing chassis components, or fabricating custom suspension systems to support heavy loads or off-road driving conditions. Body Panel Fabrication: Body builders fabricate and install custom body panels, fenders, hoods, doors, roofs, and other exterior components using sheet metal, fiberglass, carbon fiber, or composite materials. They ensure proper fitment, alignment, and structural integrity of body panels to maintain vehicle safety and performance. Painting and Finishing: After fabrication, body builders prepare vehicle bodies for painting and finishing. This may involve sanding, priming, and applying paint, clear coat, and graphics to achieve desired colors, textures, and finishes. They may also apply protective coatings or wraps to enhance durability and aesthetics. Interior Modification: Body builders may modify vehicle interiors to enhance comfort, functionality, or style. This may involve installing custom upholstery, seating, trim, dashboard, consoles, audio systems, and other interior accessories to meet client preferences and specifications. Assembly and Integration: Body builders assemble vehicle bodies, components, and systems, ensuring proper fitment, alignment, and functionality. This may involve integrating mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, such as engines, drivetrains, brakes, lighting, and controls, into custom vehicle configurations. Testing and Quality Assurance: Body builders conduct thorough testing and quality checks to ensure that custom vehicle bodies meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. This may involve dynamic testing, static load testing, crash testing, and functional testing to verify compliance and identify any issues or defects. Documentation and Compliance: Body builders maintain detailed documentation of vehicle modifications, including design drawings, fabrication plans, material specifications, and quality control records. They ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as vehicle safety standards, emissions regulations, and registration procedures, to obtain necessary approvals and certifications for custom vehicles.
