Job description

Diagnostic Testing: Perform diagnostic tests on vehicle air conditioning systems to identify issues, leaks, or malfunctions affecting cooling performance. Use diagnostic equipment, such as pressure gauges, thermometers, and leak detectors, to assess system functionality and pinpoint the root cause of problems. System Inspection and Evaluation: Inspect air conditioning components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, hoses, and refrigerant lines, for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Evaluate system integrity and performance, checking for refrigerant leaks, compressor clutch engagement, belt tension, and overall system operation. Refrigerant Handling and Charging: Handle refrigerant safely and responsibly, following EPA regulations and industry best practices for refrigerant recovery, recycling, and disposal. Charge air conditioning systems with the correct type and amount of refrigerant, ensuring proper pressure and temperature levels for efficient cooling. Component Repair and Replacement: Repair or replace defective or worn-out air conditioning components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, and blower motors. Perform component repairs, such as compressor clutch replacement, condenser coil cleaning, evaporator core repair, and hose replacement, as needed. System Flushing and Cleaning: Flush air conditioning systems to remove contaminants, debris, and moisture that can affect system performance and cause damage. Clean evaporator and condenser coils, air filters, and blower assemblies to improve airflow, prevent blockages, and maintain system efficiency. Seal and Leak Repair: Identify and repair refrigerant leaks in air conditioning systems using appropriate sealants, soldering techniques, or replacement parts. Conduct leak tests to verify repair integrity and ensure that systems are leak-free before recharging with refrigerant. Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical issues affecting air conditioning system operation, such as faulty relays, switches, wiring harnesses, and sensors. Test electrical circuits, connectors, and components using multimeters, voltage testers, and continuity checks to identify and resolve electrical faults. System Performance Testing: Conduct performance tests on air conditioning systems to assess cooling capacity, temperature output, humidity control, and air distribution. Adjust system settings, such as refrigerant charge, compressor clutch engagement, and fan speed, to optimize performance and efficiency. Customer Service and Communication: Interact with vehicle owners, service advisors, and other automotive professionals in a professional and courteous manner, explaining diagnosis findings, repair options, and cost estimates. Provide recommendations for preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and aftermarket accessories to enhance air conditioning performance and longevity. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of service and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings. Document refrigerant handling procedures, leak detection results, and system pressure readings in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
