Diagnostic Testing: Automobile AC technicians use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues with vehicle air conditioning systems. They inspect components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigerant lines to pinpoint problems and determine necessary repairs. Refrigerant Handling: AC technicians handle refrigerants safely and responsibly in accordance with environmental regulations. They recover, recycle, or dispose of refrigerants properly and ensure compliance with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal. System Repair and Replacement: AC technicians repair or replace faulty components in vehicle AC systems to restore proper functionality. This may involve repairing leaks in refrigerant lines, replacing worn-out compressors, or fixing electrical wiring issues. System Recharging: AC technicians recharge vehicle AC systems with refrigerant to ensure optimal cooling performance. They use gauges and pressure meters to measure refrigerant levels and add refrigerant as needed to achieve proper pressure and temperature. Leak Detection and Repair: AC technicians detect and repair leaks in vehicle AC systems to prevent refrigerant loss and maintain system efficiency. They use leak detection tools such as UV dye and electronic detectors to locate leaks and seal them effectively. Evacuation and Vacuuming: AC technicians evacuate air and moisture from vehicle AC systems using vacuum pumps to create a vacuum seal.
