Job description

System Inspection and Diagnosis: Inspect vehicle air conditioning systems to diagnose issues, identify malfunctions, and determine repair or service requirements. Use diagnostic tools, gauges, and equipment to assess system performance and components. Refrigerant Handling: Handle refrigerants safely and responsibly according to environmental regulations and industry best practices. Recharge, evacuate, and recycle refrigerant gases using specialized equipment and procedures to maintain system efficiency and compliance. Component Replacement: Replace faulty or worn-out components of air conditioning systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, hoses, seals, and fittings. Ensure proper installation, alignment, and sealing to prevent leaks and ensure optimal system performance. System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on vehicle AC systems, such as cleaning coils, replacing filters, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting belts and hoses for wear and tear. Keep systems clean, well-maintained, and free from debris to prolong component lifespan and prevent breakdowns. Leak Detection and Repair: Detect and repair refrigerant leaks in AC systems using leak detection tools, UV dyes, and pressure testing methods. Seal leaks, replace damaged components, and verify system integrity to prevent refrigerant loss and ensure efficient cooling. Electrical Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot electrical issues and wiring problems in vehicle AC systems, such as faulty switches, relays, fuses, wiring harnesses, and sensors. Test electrical circuits, connections, and controls to identify and resolve electrical faults affecting system operation. Temperature and Pressure Testing: Perform temperature and pressure testing of AC systems to verify proper cooling performance and refrigerant pressure levels. Adjust system settings, refrigerant charge, and airflow as needed to achieve optimal cooling capacity and comfort. Evacuation and Vacuuming: Evacuate air and moisture from AC systems using vacuum pumps and evacuation equipment to create a vacuum and remove contaminants before recharging with refrigerant. Ensure proper evacuation procedures to prevent system contamination and maintain efficiency. System Retrofitting and Upgrades: Retrofit older AC systems with newer refrigerants and components to comply with environmental regulations and improve efficiency. Upgrade AC systems with aftermarket components, accessories, or enhancements to enhance cooling performance and comfort. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of AC service and repair activities, including work orders, service reports, parts inventory, and customer information. Document system specifications, modifications, and service history for future reference and warranty purposes. Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with vehicle owners or customers to explain AC repair options, pricing, and recommendations. Provide estimates, timelines, and explanations of repair procedures to ensure customer satisfaction and understanding. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, procedures, and protocols to ensure safe working practices and prevent accidents or injuries. Use personal protective equipment (PPE), follow safety guidelines, and handle hazardous materials responsibly to protect yourself and others in the workplace.
