Job description

Curriculum Development: Developing and planning animation curriculum based on educational standards, industry requirements, and student needs. You design lessons, projects, and assignments that cover various aspects of animation production, including animation principles, storytelling, character design, modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and rendering. Instruction and Demonstration: Delivering effective instruction in animation concepts, tools, and workflows. You use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including lectures, demonstrations, tutorials, hands-on exercises, and multimedia presentations to engage students and facilitate learning. Software Proficiency: Teaching students how to use animation software and tools commonly used in the industry. You provide instruction in popular animation software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, and others, and guide students in mastering essential skills and techniques for animation production. Animation Principles: Introducing students to fundamental animation principles such as timing, spacing, squash and stretch, anticipation, follow-through, and exaggeration. You demonstrate how these principles apply to character animation, object animation, and special effects, and guide students in applying them to their own animations. Storyboarding and Previsualization: Teaching students how to create storyboards and animatics to plan and visualize their animations. You explain the storytelling process, shot composition, camera angles, and pacing, and guide students in creating storyboards and animatics to communicate their ideas effectively. Character Design and Animation: Providing instruction in character design, anatomy, and animation techniques. You teach students how to design appealing characters, create character rigs, and animate characters with believable movement, personality, and expression, and provide feedback and guidance on character animation projects. 3D Modeling and Texturing: Teaching students how to create 3D models and textures for use in animation projects. You introduce modeling techniques such as polygonal modeling, sculpting, and surface modeling, and guide students in creating models, textures, and UV maps for characters, props, and environments. Rendering and Compositing: Explaining rendering techniques and compositing workflows used in animation production. You teach students how to set up render settings, apply materials, lighting, and camera effects, and composite rendered images and sequences using software such as Adobe After Effects or Nuke. Project-Based Learning: Facilitating project-based learning experiences that allow students to apply their skills and knowledge in real-world animation projects. You assign animation projects and assignments that challenge students to problem-solve, collaborate, and create high-quality animations from concept to final render. Portfolio Development and Career Preparation: Assisting students in developing their animation portfolios and preparing for careers in the animation industry. You provide guidance on portfolio presentation, demo reel creation, job search strategies, and industry networking, and share insights and advice on career paths and opportunities in animation.
