Preparing Equipment: Anesthesia technicians ensure that all anesthesia equipment and supplies are prepared and functional before surgical procedures. This includes checking anesthesia machines, monitors, IV equipment, and medications. Assisting with Patient Preparation: They assist in preparing patients for anesthesia administration, which may involve positioning patients, applying monitoring devices (e.g., ECG electrodes, blood pressure cuffs), and securing intravenous lines. Monitoring Vital Signs: During surgery, anesthesia technicians monitor and record patients' vital signs under the direction of the anesthesia provider. This includes tracking heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory status. Maintaining Anesthesia Equipment: They are responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment during procedures. This includes ensuring proper functioning, cleanliness, and readiness for emergency situations. Assisting with Anesthesia Administration: Anesthesia technicians may assist anesthesia providers in administering medications and anesthetics to patients. They ensure medications are prepared accurately and safely administered. Patient Safety and Comfort: They play a crucial role in maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the anesthesia process.
