Job description

Preparing Equipment: Assisting in the setup and preparation of anesthesia equipment and supplies needed for medical procedures, including anesthesia machines, monitors, airway devices, and medication delivery systems. Checking Equipment Functionality: Ensuring that anesthesia equipment is in proper working order, calibrated correctly, and stocked with necessary supplies, including medications, intravenous fluids, and airway adjuncts. Assisting with Induction: Assisting anesthesiologists in administering anesthesia to patients undergoing surgery or medical procedures, including the induction phase where patients are sedated or rendered unconscious. Airway Management: Assisting with airway management techniques, including the insertion and maintenance of endotracheal tubes, laryngeal mask airways (LMAs), and other airway devices to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation. Monitoring Patients: Monitoring patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory status, throughout anesthesia administration to detect any changes or complications and ensure patient safety. Documenting Procedures: Documenting anesthesia-related procedures, medication administration, and patient responses in medical records or electronic health records (EHR) accurately and comprehensively. Assisting During Surgery: Providing assistance to the anesthesia care team during surgical procedures by monitoring anesthesia equipment, adjusting settings as needed, and anticipating the needs of the anesthesia provider. Responding to Emergencies: Participating in emergency responses and code situations within the operating room or other healthcare settings, including managing airway emergencies, administering emergency medications, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as necessary. Cleaning and Maintenance: Cleaning and disinfecting anesthesia equipment and work areas according to established protocols to prevent infections and maintain a sterile environment. Ensuring Safety: Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring electrical safety, and following infection control procedures. Communication: Communicating effectively with members of the anesthesia care team, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure smooth workflow during procedures. Continuing Education: Engaging in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with advances in anesthesia technology, equipment, procedures, and safety standards, and maintaining relevant certifications and licensure.
