Job description

Patient Assessment: Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital sign measurements, and health history interviews, to gather data and identify patient needs. Nursing Diagnosis: Formulate nursing diagnoses based on the assessment findings, identifying actual and potential health problems and developing individualized care plans. Medication Administration: Administer medications, including oral, intravenous, intramuscular, and topical medications, as prescribed by healthcare providers. Monitor patients for adverse reactions and side effects of medications. Treatment Implementation: Implement nursing interventions and treatments to address patient needs and achieve desired health outcomes. This may include wound care, catheterization, IV therapy, respiratory treatments, and other medical procedures. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about their medical condition, treatment plan, medications, self-care techniques, and preventive measures. Provide instruction on managing chronic conditions, promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors, and recognizing signs of complications. Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor patients' progress and response to treatment, assessing vital signs, lab results, and other indicators of health status. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and modify care plans as needed to promote optimal outcomes. Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care, communicate changes in patient status, and ensure continuity of care. Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHRs) or other medical record systems. Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' rights, preferences, and needs within the healthcare system. Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, helping to ensure that patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care. Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies and provide emergency care as needed, including CPR, first aid, and rapid assessment and stabilization of acutely ill or injured patients. Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and procedures to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and ensure patient safety. Follow standard precautions, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and practice proper hand hygiene techniques. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including continuing education, certifications, and training programs, to enhance nursing knowledge, skills, and competencies.
