Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status, including physical, psychological, social, and environmental factors. Care Planning and Implementation: Develop individualized care plans based on patients' assessments, medical diagnoses, and treatment goals. Implement nursing interventions, treatments, and procedures to promote health, prevent illness, and manage acute or chronic conditions. Medication Administration: Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and treatments prescribed by physicians or advanced practice providers. Follow medication safety protocols, verify dosages, and monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects. Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, medications, and self-care practices. Provide guidance on managing symptoms, adhering to treatment plans, and making lifestyle modifications to promote wellness and prevent disease complications. Vital Signs Monitoring: Monitor and record patients' vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate, to assess their physiological status and detect any deviations from normal values. Wound Care and Dressing Changes: Assess and manage wounds, incisions, and skin integrity. Perform wound care procedures, such as cleaning, debridement, and dressing changes, to promote healing and prevent infection. Diagnostic Testing and Interpretation: Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as blood draws, specimen collection, and diagnostic imaging studies. Interpret test results, report findings to healthcare providers, and collaborate on appropriate interventions. Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Respond to medical emergencies, code situations, and crisis events in healthcare settings. Initiate emergency protocols, provide life-saving interventions, and stabilize patients until further medical assistance arrives. Collaborative Care Coordination: Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, surgeons, therapists, and social workers, to coordinate patient care and treatment plans. Communicate effectively, share patient information, and participate in care conferences and rounds. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHRs) or medical charts. Ensure compliance with documentation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies. Infection Control and Prevention: Follow infection control protocols and guidelines to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and promote patient safety. Adhere to hand hygiene practices, isolation precautions, and sterilization techniques to minimize the spread of pathogens.
