Job description

Patient Assessment: Conducting comprehensive health assessments to evaluate patients' medical history, current symptoms, vital signs, and overall health status, and identifying any deviations or abnormalities that require further evaluation or intervention. Medication Administration: Administering medications, injections, and intravenous (IV) therapies as prescribed by physicians, following established medication administration protocols and ensuring accurate dosage, route, and timing. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Collaborating with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, including monitoring responses to treatment, managing symptoms, and addressing patient concerns. Patient Education: Providing patients and their families with information about their medical condition, treatment options, medications, and self-care techniques, and offering guidance on managing chronic conditions, preventing complications, and promoting overall health and wellness. Wound Care and Dressing Changes: Performing wound assessments, cleaning and dressing wounds, and monitoring healing progress to prevent infection and promote optimal wound healing. Medical Procedures and Interventions: Assisting physicians with medical procedures, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic interventions, such as inserting urinary catheters, administering oxygen therapy, or performing nasogastric tube insertions. Emergency Response and Critical Care: Responding to medical emergencies, providing emergency medical care, and initiating resuscitation efforts as needed, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced life support interventions. Patient Advocacy: Advocating for patients' rights, preferences, and needs within the healthcare system, ensuring they receive compassionate, respectful, and culturally competent care, and serving as their liaison with other healthcare providers and support services. Documentation and Charting: Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records, including nursing assessments, care plans, medication administration records, and progress notes, using electronic health record (EHR) systems or paper-based charting methods. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, therapists, and social workers, to coordinate patient care, exchange information, and achieve optimal patient outcomes. Infection Control and Prevention: Implementing infection control measures and following standard precautions to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and ensure a safe and hygienic healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Continuing Education and Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing education, training, and professional development activities to stay current with advances in nursing practice, evidence-based guidelines, and regulatory requirements, and to maintain licensure and certification credentials.
