Job description

Patient Assessment: Conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients' health status, including vital signs, medical history, symptoms, and physical examination findings. Identifying any changes or abnormalities in patients' conditions and reporting them to the healthcare team. Medication Administration: Administering medications and treatments prescribed by physicians or advanced practice providers. Following medication protocols, calculating dosages, and ensuring accurate administration through various routes such as oral, intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), and subcutaneous (SQ). Patient Monitoring: Monitoring patients' health status and response to treatments, medications, and interventions. Observing for signs of improvement or deterioration in patients' conditions and reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team. Patient Education: Providing patient education on medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, self-care techniques, and preventive measures. Ensuring that patients and their families understand their health conditions and are empowered to participate in their care. Care Planning and Coordination: Collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop individualized care plans for patients. Coordinating and implementing care interventions according to established protocols and standards of practice. Wound Care and Dressing Changes: Assessing and managing wounds, surgical incisions, and skin integrity. Performing wound care procedures, such as cleaning, debridement, and dressing changes, to promote healing and prevent infection. Emergency Response: Responding promptly to medical emergencies and providing emergency care to stabilize patients. Administering CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), defibrillation, and other life-saving interventions as needed. Documentation and Charting: Maintaining accurate and complete patient records, including nursing assessments, care plans, medication administration records, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Documenting interventions, patient responses, and communication with healthcare team members. Infection Control: Implementing infection control practices and protocols to prevent the spread of infections within healthcare settings. Adhering to standard precautions, hand hygiene practices, and isolation procedures to protect patients, staff, and visitors. Patient Advocacy: Advocating for patients' rights, preferences, and needs within the healthcare system. Serving as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive appropriate care and support. Ethical and Legal Compliance: Adhering to ethical principles and professional standards of nursing practice. Ensuring compliance with legal regulations, patient confidentiality requirements, and institutional policies and procedures. Continuing Education and Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing education, training, and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in nursing practice, technology, and healthcare trends. Pursuing opportunities for specialization or advanced certification in specific areas of nursing practice.
