Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams, medical histories, and vital sign measurements. Assess patients' health status, identify health problems or changes, and communicate findings to the healthcare team. Medication Administration: Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed by physicians or advanced practice providers. Calculate medication dosages, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and educate patients about medications and their effects. Patient Care Planning: Develop individualized care plans based on patients' needs, diagnoses, and treatment goals. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to establish goals, interventions, and outcomes for patient care. Patient Education: Provide patient education on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care management. Teach patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, medication regimens, and lifestyle modifications to support optimal health outcomes. Medical Procedures: Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with medical procedures, diagnostic tests, and treatments. Prepare patients for procedures, assist with equipment setup, and provide procedural support and monitoring as needed. Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' rights, preferences, and needs within the healthcare system. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive high-quality, patient-centered care. Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHRs) or other healthcare documentation systems. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards for documentation and reporting. Health Monitoring and Surveillance: Monitor patients' health status, symptoms, and responses to treatment. Perform ongoing assessments, reassessments, and surveillance for changes in patients' conditions, and report abnormalities or concerns to the healthcare team. Collaborative Care Coordination: Coordinate patient care activities, transitions, and referrals across healthcare settings and disciplines. Collaborate with physicians, specialists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless continuity of care. Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies and provide emergency care interventions as needed. Assess patients in crisis situations, initiate appropriate interventions, and collaborate with emergency response teams to stabilize patients and ensure their safety. Infection Control and Prevention: Adhere to infection control protocols, standard precautions, and healthcare-associated infection prevention measures. Follow proper hand hygiene practices, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and implement isolation precautions as necessary to prevent the spread of infections. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities, such as continuing education, training programs, and certification renewal. Stay updated on evidence-based practice guidelines, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements to maintain competence and quality of care.
