Job description

Patient Assessment: Performing initial and ongoing assessments of patients' health status, including vital signs, medical history, and symptoms. RNs use their assessment findings to develop and adjust patient care plans in collaboration with physicians. Medication Administration: Administering medications, injections, and intravenous (IV) therapies as prescribed by physicians. RNs ensure medication safety, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and provide education on medication usage and side effects. Patient Monitoring: Monitoring patients' conditions and responses to treatment, including observing for changes in vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status. RNs assess for signs of complications or deterioration and intervene promptly as needed. Collaborative Care Planning: Collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. RNs participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and treatment meetings to coordinate patient care and address patient needs. Patient Education: Providing patient education and counseling on health promotion, disease prevention, medication management, and self-care techniques. RNs empower patients and their families to make informed decisions about their health and participate actively in their care. Wound Care and Dressing Changes: Performing wound assessments, wound care procedures, and dressing changes for patients with surgical wounds, injuries, or chronic wounds. RNs ensure proper wound healing and infection prevention while promoting patient comfort and safety. Patient Advocacy: Advocating for patients' rights, preferences, and well-being within the healthcare system. RNs communicate patient concerns, preferences, and needs to the healthcare team and help patients navigate the healthcare system to access appropriate resources and support. Documentation and Charting: Documenting patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and comprehensively in medical records and electronic health record (EHR) systems. RNs maintain thorough and up-to-date patient documentation to support continuity of care and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Emergency Response: Responding to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests, respiratory distress, and trauma situations. RNs initiate emergency protocols, perform life-saving interventions, and coordinate with the healthcare team to stabilize patients and facilitate appropriate treatment. Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development activities, such as continuing education, certification programs, and participation in professional organizations. RNs stay current with evidence-based practices, advances in medical technology, and changes in healthcare regulations to deliver high-quality patient care.
