Job description

Recording Transactions: Recording financial transactions accurately in the accounting system. This includes transactions such as sales, purchases, expenses, and payments. Maintaining General Ledger: Maintaining the general ledger, which is a complete record of all financial transactions of the organization. This involves organizing transactions into accounts and ensuring that the ledger balances. Preparing Financial Statements: Compiling financial statements such as the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement. These statements provide an overview of the organization's financial performance and position. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts to guide the organization's financial planning and decision-making processes. Financial Analysis: Analyzing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. This may involve comparing actual financial performance against budgeted figures or industry benchmarks. Tax Compliance: Ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing tax returns accurately and on time. This includes calculating taxes owed, maintaining records for tax purposes, and liaising with tax authorities as needed. Auditing: Assisting with internal or external audits by providing auditors with access to financial records, answering inquiries, and addressing any audit findings or recommendations. Internal Controls: Implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting. Financial Reporting: Preparing and presenting financial reports to management, stakeholders, or regulatory bodies as required. These reports provide insights into the organization's financial performance and help stakeholders make informed decisions. Cash Management: Managing cash flow effectively by monitoring cash balances, forecasting cash needs, and optimizing the timing of cash inflows and outflows. Financial Compliance: Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies. This includes staying up-to-date on changes in regulations and standards that may affect financial reporting. Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): Participating in financial planning and analysis activities, such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation. Advisory Role: Providing financial advice and recommendations to management based on analysis of financial data and industry trends. This may involve identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing revenue streams, or evaluating investment opportunities. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software and other financial tools to efficiently manage financial data and streamline accounting processes.
